Catherine Acosta Russo is a returning native of Grant County. She is a retired educator having spent 37 years teaching students of all ages in New Mexico, Colorado, and Wisconsin. She uses clay to make one-of-a-kind unique slab-built and wheel thrown sculptural forms, functional ware, figurative forms, clay tiles, and platters. Her work frequently incorporates textural elements and is abstract and narrative in nature. She also incorporates design elements that reference her roots and life journey. Catherine welcomes commission work and has a particular interest in creating prophetic work designed specifically for an individual or individuals. She is also passionate about mentoring people on the autistic spectrum and those seeking healing and relief from PTSD, anxiety, and other mental health challenges. Catherine also specializes in Blind Contour Portraiture and has done numerous group events.
