Category descriptions

Galleries

The gallery group consists of three subcategories :

Gallery

Art spaces open to the public that are primarily devoted to the display and sale of original visual art.

Artful Business

Businesses that display and/or sell artwork as a non-primary component of the business. For example a coffee shop that displays art, holds art shows, and is open to the viewing public whether or not they make a purchase.

Museum

Institutions dedicated to displaying and/or preserving culturally significant objects including the visual arts.

Studios

Studio members create art in private dedicated studio spaces and often exhibit and sell at local and national galleries, art markets and events. Their eclectic studios become showplaces during the annual Red Dot Studio Tour.

Independent Artists

Visual artists working in any media who may or may not open their studios to the public. These individuals can be represented by a gallery, and they may choose to hold an Independent Artist membership even if they are also represented by a gallery or studio.
