Lorraine Gala Lewis and Michael Kanteena share the historic teachings of their cultures that inspire the ceramic work they produce.
The ancient cultures of Chaco, Mesa Verde, and Mimbres have been preserved for over a thousand years through their pottery. These include one of the greatest forms and patterns ever created anywhere.
These two talented artists will be demonstrating and explaining these specific techniques in Blue Dome Gallery. Lorraine will be sharing information about the Pre-Columbian influences of her pottery, painting, and making ornaments. Michael will demonstrate the process of making pinched and coiled pots with simple handmade tools.
